Incorporating sustainability into ways of working is seen as a responsibility for Emmeti.
The company has made huge strides in this direction, building a sustainability-oriented culture in the workplace and encouraging environmental awareness in employees.
Emmeti has always been inspired by various aspects of sustainability, such as saving energy and protecting the environment. Over the years, this has been visible in our product offerings and local policies for quality, safety and the environment.
In fact, our products have been ISO 14001 certified since 2003.
Banning single-use water bottles
In 2017, The Guardian reported that a million plastic bottles are bought in the world every minute – almost 17.000 every second.
Emmeti is taking action: we want to help in reducing this demand by banning single-use water bottles in the workplace. Reaching this goal requires the commitment of everyone in the organization and it starts by changing the everyday habits of the employees.
Emmeti has installed new water distributors in its plants. The water distributors dispense water from a water supply system after a treatment (microfiltration and UV sanitization).
The estimate is that this initiative reduces up to 30.000 plastic bottles per year, which is the equivalent of approximately 900 kg of plastic. Additional impact includes considering the amount of CO2 saved, when avoiding water bottles being transported.
Recyclable coffee cups
In addition to staying hydrated, another daily habit contributing to plastic pollution is the coffee break – often including disposable coffee cups. The biggest issue with disposable coffee cups is the lack of knowledge around their recyclability.
This will mean another 450 kg of plastic saved every year - without compromising the taste of the delicious Italian espresso, of course!
